Don’t let the name put you off! Fagotting is a sewing technique that connects two edges of fabric with a decorative stitch. It’s so so pretty and very on-trend.
I’m not big on hand sewing so I needed some practise before I go anywhere near expensive fabrics with my needle. This is the result with the thickest thread I could find – yarn, really – and the biggest needle I own. It’s easier to learn something when you can actually see what you’re doing! I’m thinking this would be a great detail at the front of a top where it would look like a lace up detail.
This is probably the simplest of many, many different style of fagotting. I will be doing a tutorial as soon as I master this myself. Those stitches need to get less wonky!
